What no one tells you about loose florals

Loose florals are difficult to capture because this is about the way the artist paints.

And to capture that - it is all about the brush.

Here are 3 things no one tells you about loose florals:

1. There shouldn't be a certain way or formula to do it.

Flowers are my favorite subject to paint because of their organic and forgiving shape. There is no symmetry and definitely not presented as just a "5 flower petal".

2. Loose florals is about painting the shape of the flower. Focus on the big picture and not each petal.

We want to use our brush to capture the flower's whole shape and form while losing the details. This is where you gonna pay attention to how you use your brush.

3. Small brushes are your enemy

Think billowy and fluffy petals. Unless you are painting small fillers, flower petals are soft, and fluffy. So from the get go - grab your big brush.

Loose florals are my go-to way to paint because I personally love how forgiving it is but I can also see how the art of "effortless"- is really not effortless.
