"I just want to say that I've been painting with watercolor for 6 years and I learned more about watercolor from you today I have in super expensive workshops!

Kirstyn Sanders

The fact that you don’t hold anything back and your organized from step 1 through all the steps. Your teaching style is very easy to follow. I learned more about water control from you in this workshop than I ever have from all the very expensive workshop/classes I’ve taken.

Yvonne Sanders
"From Blobs to Blooms" Workshop

"Love your teaching style because you share such practical and valuable tips..."

"How watercolor concepts are broken down to “everyday terms”; it makes it more approachable and feel (and actually is) doable!"

Allison
"No Formula Florals" Workshop

"Jillian is an incredible teacher. She is kind and humble and always encouraging. I love that she shared the brush strokes so that I can practice them to build muscle memory"

"I could watch her paint forever. I always love how she shows all the steps, including how she dips her brush into the water jar and how many times she wipes it off. I always find other people don't share that and it helps so much. That's always the part that's off camera."

Melissa Deakin
"From Flat to Fabulous" Workshop

"The clear breakdown of all the different brushstrokes and what each brush can do. And also getting a chance to play with the flat brush in all the ways you suggested.

I never had anyone show me how to use a square brush in the way you use it! So good!"

Crystal Tan
"No Formula Florals" Workshop

“The tips and demo with different water ratio on paper was extremely helpful - I never really understood how water and pigments moved and just painted blindly but this technical part of the workshop helped me to understand how to paint better.”

Serene
"From Blobs to Blooms" Workshop

“Having a quick crash course about the type of supplies that Jillian likes best from her years of experience, and more importantly being able to learn how to paint in a stress free & encouraging environment!”

"No Formula Florals" will help you maximize your brush work game so that you can start visualising with a brush instead of a pencil

"From Blobs to Blooms" addresses all things water. You will get confident with knowing what paint-water ratio to use and how to use it.

Painting loosely is about 2 things
-  Knowing how to use your brush to create movement (No Formula Florals)
-  Knowing when and how to use water (From Blobs to Blooms)

Apart from these 2 skills if you struggle with gaps in your learning then "Watercolor Redefined" is an all inclusive course that could guide you to adopt habits towards painting more freely

I host monthly zoom workshops with a dedicated and committed group of watercolor enthusiasts. Every month we have a challenge of the month, we have art socials and live Q&A pegged to a monthly floral class.

The membership is closed at the moment but you can sign up to be in our waitlist and be the first to be notified before doors open (estimated September 2023)

Waitlist here.

My friend - I have been here too. And there are a few things happening here
1. I know you are trying to seek a style that feels good for you
2. You like having an outcome when it comes to painting
3. Learning this way helps you to know how others apply techniques to create flowers
4. You aren’t confident of your own skills and aren't sure how to apply them to flowers

Watercolor Redefined is a course that can help you to get out of the hamster wheel of tutorials by beefing up your foundation (and beyond). This course was designed to focus on applying skills so you can become more intentional as a painter.

The next thing I would recommend you do is to ask yourself what’s your relationship with watercolor like - tune into my Youtube video which gives you a checklist of skills that you need if you are self taught.

Based on what you find missing - if it is multiple skills - Watercolor Redefined could be your answer.

If it’s specific skills - you can check out my other deep dive workshops that address:
- Problems with loose brush work “No Formula Florals
- Struggle with using water in watercolor “From Blobs to Blooms
= Unsure how to create more depth in your painting “From Flat to Fabulous

This video could also be helpful for you.

Choosing supplies is very personal - I have shared the 5 things I wish I knew about watercolor materials and would love to share my lessons with you. Download your free copy here.

From Blobs to Blooms” will not only encourage you to use water effectively but help you outline the stages of water drying on paper, plus help you to manage the various water sources in your art space.

I do that too. I get excited and I want to add layers before my paintings are dry or I give my painting more detail than it needs.

Overworking can be prevented in 3 ways:
1. Becoming clear on how water works in your painting and knowing when to put the next stroke out “From Blobs to Blooms
2. Allowing your paper to dry fully and reworking over it by adding layers  - “From Flat to Fabulous
3. Understanding how to use your brush to illustrate a flower with the least number of strokes while capturing the most movement “No Formula Florals

I offer an entire module on troubleshooting in Watercolor Redefined. I believe that knowing what parts of watercolor that can be fixed is an asset so you are not at the mercy of ‘water’ or ‘paint’. Watercolor Redefined gives you questions to ask yourself as you paint to build more purposeful painting.

I still have days where I feel this. Relying all your efforts on 1 layer is a lot of pressure and also not a productive strategy. “From Flat to Fabulous” will get you beyond your first layer and more.
