I’ll be honest with you:
Getting to this point wasn’t easy
When I started out as a new watercolor artist, I really struggled to find tutorials and resources that were pegged at my level.
👉 In my early days of being self-taught, I was looking for floral watercolor artist’s tutorials to learn from.
There was a wealth of free tutorials and resources online. I also started to invest in more materials in the hope of improving (materials were recommendations from artists I admired).

2016: First started watercolor painting roses from tutorials
But then...
I got lost in the sea of free tutorials. I felt discouraged by the many "beginner friendly" and “easy” tutorials that promised easy steps and formulas only to discover
❌these videos left out vital pieces of information in the process
❌the videos were sped up and I realised I was painting faster than I could cope
❌ that I could not figure out things on my own without relying on someone’s formula
I began to feel discouraged
Not to mention the amount of materials I spent on in the hope of finally being able to paint like the artists I idolised.

So I tried...
❌ Getting more expensive materials in the hope of getting better with more quality goods (but I experienced analysis paralysis with having to decide what materials I should use and ended up having lots of materials with limited knowledge of how to actually incorporate them into my practice)
